Indian Journey 2007

After utter humiliation at 50 over world cup against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, they knocked out India. And all the cricket pundits predicted that India cannot compete with world-class teams and they will see an early exit from the 20-20 world cup. Almost every star from the 2003 world cup was back out from the tournament and a fresh team was formed in the captaincy of MS Dhoni. The young Indian cricket team went to South Africa.

India played Pakistan and Scotland. India faced Scotland in their first match, but the match was washed out by rain, and there was no result at all. In the next match of the group stage India faced Pakistan, and with the start of the match India lost 3 very important wickets at the score of 19 and things got worse when India lost their 4th wicket at the score of 36. Then Uthappa and the lower-middle order took the charge and set a target of 141. Which was not even a par score, but it was better than 120 or below?

In response, Pakistan lost their wickets early. Only Misbah-ul-Haq able to do some plenty of things. He scored 53 runs in 35 balls and almost won the match for his team. In last over Pakistan needed 12 runs, and he added 11 runs in first 4 deliveries. Pakistan needed 1 run from last 2 balls. Next ball of the over was missed by Misbah-ul-Haq and 1 needed from 1 ball. Last ball was a miss hit by Misbah-ul-Haq and he got run out , match was tie now. According to icc rules teams has 5 chances to hit the wicket with the ball (no batsman will be there), Rule was much similar to penalty in football or in hockey.

For India Virender Sehwag, Harbhajan Singh and Robin Uthappa all hit the target. While Pakistan’s Yasir Arafat, Umar Gul and Shahid Afridi missed their target. India won the match by 3-0 at bowl out. Both the teams proceed to super 8 stage of the tournament while Scotland was eliminated.
