How many times teams successfully chase 200+ target in T20? Even when pitches are a graveyard for the bowlers, we consider 200+ target safe because of psychological factors. Not that easy to chase 200+ any day. But we are witness of 230 chases by England against RSA during the T20 world cup 2016.

England won the toss and elected to field first. For RSA Hashim Amla and Q de Kock start the innings and they added 96 runs for the first wicket partnership in just 7 overs. Both of them complete Fifty and set a benchmark for the upcoming batsman. After De Kock and Hashim Amla AB de Villiers and captain, Faf fail to covert the start, after that it seems impossible to reach 200 run targets.

But JP Duminy and David Miller have other plans. Killer Miller short fired while Duminy scored one more fifty for the RSA. They added 61 runs in 4.3 over which bring the target to 230 after 20 overs. Now England has to chase 230, which is tough for any batting line up.

” I remembered when everyone lost their hope I predicted that England will Chase it somehow I have faith in Alex Hales”.

In the first over of the inning, Jason Roy shows his character and tells everyone they will not retreat. Roy and Hales set 48 runs in 2.3 overs for 1st wicket partnership. After Hales Wicket Morgan promoted Ben stokes, which was not a successful experiment, but it showed how England changed in past one year.

After Roy’s wicket, South Africa got the momentum. Jason contributed 43 runs in 16 balls while Ben stokes added 15 runs in 9 balls. 87-3 in 5.4 overs, the score was fine but 3 priceless wickets were back to the pavilion, Joe Root and Morgan were in the pitch.

These 3 wickets shift the momentum towards South Africa and slow down the scoring speed. And when JP Duminy bowled captain Morgan and Break the backbone of England, now it was 111-4 in 9.4 overs.

We knew Joe Root more than a Test and ODI specialist, not for T-20 one. Joe Root starts his class, along with Buttler. From the other side when the wickets were continuously falling but stokes Root stands like a pillar, he not only contributed 83 runs in 44 balls but also put England in a state of win.

Joe root got out at the score of 219 in 19th over Jordan and Mo Ali take charge after that and Mo Ali finished the game in 20th over but before that we saw insane drama for those 11 runs, where Jordan scored 4 and got out on the next ball, David Willey runs out without facing the single ball.

In last over England needed one run, but it takes four balls to complete that run. England won the match by 2 wickets and 2 balls left. But the complete thing was a mindset. I remember one year back in Australia, England could not qualify and lost even to underdog Bangladesh, since they changed everything. The fresh team of England reaches the final of the world cup where they lost to West Indies, unfortunately. But they show genuine characters and changed news headlines from “England forget how to play cricket” to “England the new designs”.
